Parts List

Flight Controllers

All flight controllers used in the ARISE Drone competition must be PX4 or Ardupilot compatible.

The following is a list of flight controllers which are known to work for the competition:

  1. Holybro Pixhawk
  2. Cube Pilot
  3. ARK Electronics
  4. MatekSys Wing
    • VTOL
  5. SpeedyBee Wing
    • VTOL

There are likely many other Pixhawk or Ardupilot compatible flight controllers other than the ones listed above.

Flight controllers must run either the PX4 or Ardupilot firmware.

The vendor list below will be continually updated:

  1. Amazon.com
  2. ARK Electronics (NDAA)
  3. GetFPV.com
  4. Holybro
  5. Ready Made RC
  6. Rotor Riot

Electronic Speed Controller (ESC)

ESCs should be rated for the expected continuous current draw of each motor.

Single or 4-in-1 ESCs can be used; although most teams have opted for 4-in-1 ESCs due to its small form factor.

Motors

Motors for this size of drone can range from 2812/3115 900KV and larger, depending mission parameters such as payload capacity, expected thrust, and current draw.

Peripherals

GPS & Compass (non-RTK versions):

Telemetry:

RC Transmitters / Remote:

  • Use of a transmitter and remote combination with a minimum of 8 channels (more channels are advised)
  • Protocol:
    • SBUS
    • ELRS – note that not all FCs support ELRS natively. If not supported, then RC configuration must be via ELRS to MAVLINK over a free telemtry port, with the necesary setup on the transmitter.

Remote ID only:

Remote ID with GPS telemetry support:

Battery:

  • Batteries must be able to withstand the expected current discharge and endurance required for the drone
  • Typical performance have been 4s or 6s with a capacity between 5000 mAh to 10000 mAh
  • Lithium-Polymer (Li-Po) or Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion)
